Why We Stuck With Dish Network

Last year, I waited for a cable TV installation at my son's house. My son was informed that an adult had to be present and the appointment was set between 1-3pm, saying if the cable guy was later than 3pm, the installation would be free. At 3:40pm the cable truck drove past the house and I waved in the window to catch the driver's attention. He didn't see me. At 3:44 the truck drove past the house again and I ran outside finally catching his attention. He said was impossible to find the house. My son lives on a residential street that's been on city maps for at least 75 years and I pointed to the prominently displayed house numbers. He grunted at me and started gathering tools. I showed him the TV and he muttered profanities under his breath and said he would have to install from the alley and began laying strings of wire across the yard. He ended up wrapping wire around 3/4 of the house, muttering to himself the whole time, but finally got the cable installed and working properly. He requested I sign papers, and then asked why my name was different from the person ordering the cable. I explained I was the Mom and did he really want to hear about my divorce and re-marriage? He clearly did not. He yanked the cord off the TV and said I could not authorize the connection. I explained that my son had been told only that an adult needed to be present. The cable guy said, “Take it up with the company. I have other appointments,” and drove away. I was dumbfounded. My son was furious. When he called the company, he was told that he had clearly misunderstood the original conversation, because the person ordering the cable always had to be there, a charge would be posted for work completed, even if the cable wasn't working and that the Mom had lied about the cable guy arriving late. My son responded that he would not pay any bill, he would yank the yards of cable off the side of his house and he would contact satellite television or dish network companies before he'd ever consider cable again. The response was silence at the other end of the phone so he hung up. To this day, he remains happily with Dish Network.

we have lots of problem with dish network like channels are very less, takes more time to resolve the problem. Hence dish network stuck these days.

Interesting.. I must say that not all companies are able to cope up with your expectations. That is why we must see to it that their terms and services are acceptable and competent.

What a horrible attitude the cable man had. I'm sorry to hear your family was treated this way...

I hate horrible customer service. Looks like you had a heavy helping of it. I never tried the Dish Network because of DirecTv's deal with the NFL Ticket. Hope it's all fine now.

It seems like customer service is a lost art these days. We haven't had problems with the cable guy out in our area, but I don't blame you one bit for being unhappy and sticking with Dish Network. Why change if the service stinks from cable?

Whoa...the nerve of some people. Of course I'd give that man a benefit of a doubt as he may have had a bad day, however that doesn't excuse him for acting rude. As a business owner, that would be an employee that I'd give a warning and if he didn't improve, lay off...

I personally use the Dish network as I too had a weird experience with the cable company. I have to admit your story is much crazier and a good reason for not dealing with cable.
